My name is Kailey Schissler, and I am a 2021 Maryland Yacht Club Princess. I attend Chesapeake High School (CHS) as a sophomore Principle’s Honor Roll student, taking honors and advanced placement (AP) classes. Through these courses, I had the privilege of being invited to The Fleet Reserve Club of Annapolis and The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Maryland where I received three essay contest awards for two of my submitted essays, the first highlighting the issues of Veteran Homelessness and the second explaining the importance of the Freedom of Speech. Along with my focus on education, I am very active in athletics. At Chesapeake High School, I am a member of the varsity soccer team, the junior varsity lacrosse team, and the CHS dance program. Outside of high school, I am a member of the Pasadena Soccer Club’s Travel Elite Development Program, a dancer with the Creative Force Dance Center, and I enjoy golfing with the Compass Point Golf Course golf camp. Aside from sports activities, I am a part of the CHS Orchestra and have been playing the violin for my school since the third grade, while outside of school, I play piano, guitar, ukulele, and have even enjoyed teaching myself a few songs on the clarinet and cello.
My interests include any and every form of art, and I was lucky enough to have one of my art pieces displayed at the Walters Art Museum influencing my love for the hobby, as well as traveling, spending time with friends and family, and, of course, boating! I am thankful to have had the opportunity to travel around the U.S. as well as outside the country to Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Japan, expanding my experiences and knowledge of the world. As a member of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), I participated in the Polar Bear Plunge, a program that raises money for athletes of Special Olympics Maryland, and when I reach the required age, I plan to apply for the National Honors Society (NHS) as well as for the National Security Agency’s (NSA) High School Work Study Program. As for after high school, I fully intend on going to college, and am looking forward to researching and narrowing in on a field of study, degree, and university.
